Costumes – Lethbridge South Stake Moroni's Quest

Costume Instructions

While at Moroni’s Quest, we will be stepping back in time and trying our best to experience things as these Book of Mormon Heroes did! We will even do our best to dress as they may have dressed.

All youth and attending leaders will need to prepare two scripture-themed costumes, a satchel, sturdy footwear, appropriate head coverings, and any embellishments you would like to add. Costumes must be worn at all times during Moroni’s Quest.

Keep it simple and inexpensive! Borrow from someone in another stake, re-use a costume worn by your older sibling, or create your own with help from your family. The ethnic section of your local thrift store or old bedsheets could come in handy. Be resourceful. Let your Young Women/Young Men leaders know if you are having a hard time finding what you need!

Clothing outfits/tunics:

Make tunics large enough to fit over regular clothing (youth should wear t-shirts and shorts or pants underneath) and loose enough to allow for movement.
It’s going to be hot so make clothing out of materials that will be breathable and lightweight.
Youth should have two pairs of shorts and at least two T-shirts to wear under their costumes.

Head Gear:

Hats and scarves are strongly encouraged to protect you from the sun. (Please no baseball caps. Stay with the theme!)

Shoes:

You will need two pairs of good shoes or runners. One of these may be replaced with a sturdy pair of sandals with velcro or snaps that do not easily come off. NO FLIP-FLOPS. One pair should always remain dry. The terrain is rough and you will be doing a fair amount of walking as well as participating in war re-enactments.

Embellishments:

Headbands, ankle and calf ornaments, belts, drapes, vests, shoulder shawls, collars and jewelry can be added to make your costume unique but these are not necessary.

Satchel:

The satchel should be approximately 10 x 12 inches with an over the shoulder strap. This should be large enough to hold a water bottle, a book of Mormon, a journal, a pen, and occasional snacks.
